About

Summit Psychotherapy

Have you been feeling stuck, find yourself preoccupied by certain thoughts or experiences, or feel overwhelmed by your emotions at times? Therapy can offer a safe relationship where you feel heard and understood. Developing insight into your emotions, past experiences, and your decisions empowers you to feel more in control of your life, find the direction you want to take, and eventually live the life you want to live. I will offer support, direct feedback, and coping strategies to provide you with skills and more immediate relief, while fostering insight and improved self-awareness to achieve lasting growth and change.

I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with a wide variety of challenges including relationship issues, stress due to life transitions, grief, depression, and anxiety. I utilize evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other mindfulness and behavioral therapies.

I am currently conducting online therapy only. I utilize a secure video teleconference program for us to talk face-to-face online. Clients appreciate the convenience and flexibility of being able to talk in the comfort of their own homes. I provide a free 15-minute phone consultation prior to therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

Summit Psychotherapy is in-network for a limited number of insurance companies. Please contact me to find out if your insurance is one of these. For most insurance plans, I would be considered an "Out of Network" provider. If you have a PPO or equivalent plan you likely have coverage for “Out of Network” providers. If you have such benefits and want to use them, you would pay upfront and at the end of every month you’ll receive a “superbill,” which is an insurance-ready receipt, to give to your insurance for reimbursement . Please contact your insurance to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.

I’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

  • What percentage of each session is covered when I see an out of network psychologist?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

How are payments made for sessions?

I accept payments by credit card, and fees are due at the time of session.

What if I need to cancel?

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you may be charged for the full rate of the session.  This fee is not covered by your insurance company, and you will be responsible for the full amount.

What is your approach to therapy?

I always strive to meet you where you are in your struggles and goals for therapy.

It is important that we build a trusting and solid working relationship together. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, and I will provide you with support, guidance, problem solving and skill building. I will also challenge those negative thoughts and beliefs that have been holding you back and keeping you stuck in this place that is not working for you in your life anymore.

The work we will do together will help you to make the changes you are needing and wanting in your life right now.

What are the areas you work with in therapy?

-Relationship issues

-Life transitions (such as becoming a parent, changing jobs, divorce, etc.)

What populations do you work with?

I work with residents of Washington state and North Carolina.  I primarily work with individual adults and with couples, although I also do conduct groups and workshops. I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients, and I am an LGBTQIA-affirming therapist.

How do I schedule an appointment with you?
